Roger MacDougall
Roger has been sailing for over 40 years. Starting in his teens, he learned on a laser in Alberta lakes, then graduated to windsurfing. After many years of not sailing, he got back into it in St. Maarten, aboard a 12 m America’s Cup boat, as a grinder. (He has been grinding ever since…). He finally took lessons in Chicago aboard a 37 ft. Jeanneau. He graduated to 40, 42, and 45 ft models. After joining the Chicago Yacht Club, he learned a lot from good friends and ultimately skippered in the Race to Mackinac. He also skippered a very wet trimaran in the Tri-State race. He has sailed monohulls, catamarans and trimarans on the Great Lakes, down the Mississippi, across the Gulf of Mexico to Key West and in the Caribbean. More recently, he became certified as an Offshore Yachtmaster (with Celestial Navigation) through the International Yacht Training organization, based in the U.K.
His non-sailing interests include coaching, teaching law, arbitration, mediation, SCUBA diving, teaching motorcyle riding, music, doing professional voice-over work (movies, audiobooks, commercial work…) and many other fun things.
