Diesel Tank Cleanouts

I was constantly having fuel issues. When I checked the fuel tank,I discovered multiple baffles. This is a good thing so that the tall, narrow tank does not act like unwanted momentum in high seas. However, it also means you can’t really clean out the complete tank when it needs it. And I believed it needed it. Badly. So I peeled off the protective mahogany shelf to discover only 1 clean-out at one end. So the planning began. I finally decided to drill and cut out clean out holes between each baffle. I then built cover plates and sealed them appropriately. I also built a fuel cleaning system with an electric pump and filters. I then emptied the tank. Vacuumed all of the sludge out (there was alot!). And then scrubbed it. And finally re-sealed it and put in only clean fuel. What a difference!
