Over the past few years, people often ask – “what are you doing this weekend?” The answer has most often been “working on my boat”. So I thought – for those who are interested, why not share a little more about what that has actually looked like?

Aft Head Renovations
Similar to forward head, but with a new Raritan Marine Elegance Electric head, tied into the Raritan Marine Sanitation Device and a new bidet.

New Fuel System
I was having problems with the engine, diesel heater and generator due to fuel — so I totally redesigned and rebuilt the system.

Upgraded Internal Lighting
Replaced old Alpenglow lights with new LED ones; added Hue Lightstrips and Controls.

Bidet
Just a little project…

Galley Upgrades
Replaced the stove with a new Force 10, replaced the microwave with a new combo microwave, toaster, air fryer and convection oven. Replaced the compressors and refrigeration units for the fridge and the freezer.

Generator Removal
The generator was an Apollo (Kubota-based) diesel engine, which produced 4kVa. It had 5200 engine hours and needed a bit of maintenance. Also, with the new lithiums, Victron system and planned solar expansion, we wanted to eliminate it from our systems.

Bilge Pump Replacement
The old bilge pumps were failing. These are a critical boat safety component.

Bow Seat
For the bathing beauties who join us…a custom-made seat up front.

Chain Counter
Added a chain counter to assist while anchoring.

Cockpit Painting
This was badly in need of a re-fresh, but we wanted to wait until after hauling out the engine, generator, A/C, refrigeration and heating systems.

Heater & AC
Replacement of the diesel heating system and the central air conditioning with a combined Heat/AC heat-pump based system.

Diesel Tank Remodel
The diesel tank needed cleaning. But I couldn’t get at it. So I remodelled it.

Electrical System
This HUGE project has been underway for years. I’m not sure it will ever stop. But here is a sense…

Engine & Transmission Replacement
This was another huge project which took months to plan and just over a week to execute.

Forward Deck Rebuild
During the last survey, some hollowness was discovered. Wow. Was there ever. Right under the windlass.

Ground Tackle Upgrades
The stuff that holds you in place when you aren’t near shore (anchor, chain, windlass, ….)

Hot Water Heater Replacement
Hot water is a really nice thing to have, especially for showers.

Salon Table Replacement
The previous single pedestal unit was taken out. There is a story…

Watermaker Replacement
The old watermaker was an energy hog and blew apart after we sailed to Vancouver Island from Hawaii.

Requirements Between Projects
Sometimes one needs to relax and recuperate between projects…
